Will be interesting to see what customers would use this. Especially given that Spark offer 240GB (4G) per month for $59/month, and with a much larger footprint than Wireless Nation.

Their Fair Use Policy is so vague that there is no way of knowing what they would consider unacceptable use.

I have a feeling that anyone signing up with this service thinking they can use several hundred gigs of data might get stung with that part of the Fair Use Policy.

They state "your usage must be within our customers' average and estimated use patterns. If we feel that your activities are so excessive that other customers are detrimentally affected, we may give you a written warning (by email or otherwise)".

The average customer on the Chorus network does about 200GB per month. For usage to be considered *excessive*, I'd imagine they'd need to be a magnitude of three or four times the average. And if they aren't estimating people using more than 240GB, I go back to my original opinion that Skinny offer 240GB per month for $59/month.

They will be running their own network.

There are a number of other operators apart from Vodafone, Spark and 2degrees that have LTE deployed in NZ. There is plenty of equipment available from smaller wireless providers (Baicells being a classic example) that are a fraction of the cost of equipment from the big telco providers. There are also a number of bands this equipment can be operated in outside the normal LTE bands.

I've always expected they would be under the bandwidth to really offer such a service....

Unless they are under Compass/Bluereach's spectrum?

Their site is a tad misleading as their coverage map does use vodafones's for RBI.

Yeah my first thought when I saw this was that they might be using Bluereach's wholesale network

The Bluereach coverage map suggests they have coverage in Auckland, and they list Wireless Nation as a customer

Would be interested to know metrics on that link :)

Based on what i can put together can't be much more than 70M peak?

Nice offering regardless, fair usage is a little wide though!

It would probably depend a lot on when you use that data. They probably won't care, if you max out the connection late at night. And have low usage during business hours.

Guessing that most of their CBD customers are business customers. Meaning they would be wanting to use some spare after hours capacity. The website also says that the connection should not be used for business purposes.

Thanks for that - Had a look at Spark

The $59 is a fixed connection the 4G +home phone is now down to $99

Pretty sure its just dropped down from $135/mth (Live rurally and only coverage option)

Might be worth a phone call ;)
