Hi all,

I came across the attached picture in a Stuff article and wondered if anyone knows where I can get an enclosure like this.

I'm after something that will fit an ONT, power socket and ethernet socket (same size wall plate as a power point). I've looked at the clear lockable "Thermostat guards" available from Amazon, but the largest size will fit just the ONT.

Thanks

That ONT is not ours/NBN's (We share the same ONT hardware).

Make sure it is vented and there is plenty of airflow around the ONT.  You should also have it in place before we come to scope the install.
I believe these are used commonly:

I've seen some Chorus installs in that enclosure, the enclosure is a Huawei one. Unsure if it's techs going off script or if they're available on request.

Thanks, but ONT is already in location on the wall. Once a suitable enclosure is sourced, I'll get an electrician to install a power point right next to the ONT.  I was actually considering one of those clear thermostat guards that companies use to stop people adjusting A/C thermostats (more common in the US and UK) - they have an open back so can be installed after the fact, but they don't come big enough to fit ONT and powerpoint inside.

Definitely not available on request from us.  I've never seen that enclosure.
The image has an Alcatel-Lucent ONT in there, but that doesn't mean it isn't a Huawei enclosure.

If we are thinking about the same thing, they have no ventilation, so wouldn't recommend that.

You're probably better off to get a proper enclosure and have us move the ONT into it?

We mustn't be thinking about the same thing.  They're made to prevent people tampering with A/C thermostats, but still need to allow the room temperature air inside for the thermostat to work so need to be very well ventilated.

I have my ONT in a closed cupboard, mounted directly on the wall. It's been there since I had Fiber, which is I guess 2-3 years, it hasn't ever had a problem.

OK cool, the considerations/install specs for the ONT are:
- Allow a minimum 100 mm clearance above the top cover
- Allow a minimum 50 mm clearance from the side vents
- Do not place any heat source directly above the top cover or below the bottom cover

We also request you consider:

- Future ONTs (which could include a replacement ONT if this one goes faulty) might not be the same size.
- Technician access to remedy faults (only really matters if you do lock it)
