Seems to be the weekend for family friends to approach me regarding their fun internet issues.....

Anyway....  friend is semi-rural (Brookby, Auckland),  has been on a wireless connection for the last 10+ years, works fine, but is limited to 5Mbps.

Over the years Ive checked if/when ADSL was going to made available to them, "coming soon" was always the answer.

Today I checked (havent checked for a year) , and it says VDSL is available.

So contact the friend and inform them of this... get the response "we know, tried getting it, rejected by Chorus because the line is shot along the road and Chorus refuse to do anything about it".

Apparently anyone along their stretch of road connected to that line, gets major static down the line for any phone calls. And told no for any copper internet services.

Should Chorus be looking to fix the line ? Or will the homeowners be given a nice bill for the work ? And if Chorus are aware of the issue (and dont want to fix it), why advertise "VDSL available" when its not.....

Frustrating situations I seem to be looking into :-p

What do you mean by “shot along the road”?

Oh, you mean like it’s stuffed!
