Hey all,

I am fairly new to VDSL technology so please excuse any mistakes I make but let me explain.

I recently got a VDSL connection installed, about 5 days ago. It was a new installation so we had to get a jackpoint put in etc, so the friendly Chorus tech helped me get my Draytek up and running.

He estimated that I would get 40-50Mb/s here, but we were both surprised to see the sync rate come in at 61/10 on the first day. Fast forward a few days, today I woke up to see my upload is just 5Mb/s (sync rate on modem shows 6 ish). My question, is it normal to suddenly lose half my upload speed overnight when it re-syncs?

Thanks in advance.

Quite likely there were errors on the line or it was disconnecting and as such ddDLM has pulled the line back to 12dB upstream snr.

I wasn't noticing many errors however the modem was being rebooted due to electrical problems more than I like yesterday - I think I should consider a UPS.

Is there any way to get it back? I presume just wait and hope ddDLM does it's thing, or request a DLM reset?

I have an Edgerouter EX-R on the way, due tomorrow. Once I get that setup and configure the static route so I can access the Draytek in bridge mode, I will see how it goes.

Electrical work is a great way to make ddDLM think the line is dodgy if it's of and on lots..

Your best option for recourse is, to be patient.

Electrical work is completely done now. UPS installed.

I have noticed the upload has increased slightly while the download took a hit of about 8Mb/s last night. I think I have 2 days left of the "first 10 days" so fingers crossed if it's stable for 48 hours I should see it improve!

Thanks all for the advice and help!

after the 10 days it will still reassess the line.

It just operates on a much slower scale is all :)
