Telecom has a promo running at the moment which may suit you. 1GB+ plan for $49.95 + GST per month, with the first 6 months at 1/2 price on a 24month term and $49 for the device (T Stick). Once you have done 2 months of your term it will only cost $100 to exit the plan. So the device would cost $149 if you factor in the $100 termination fee, of which you could keep the device for next time you visit, or flick it on TradeMe or something.
