We have over 60km's of fibre in christchurch, it depends on where you want it to what we can do

Do you wan tot have it at home or at a commercial business, sadly this does make the difference. Fibre to the Home in an exisitng suburb is nearly impossible to achieve at present

Yeah I'm looking at building a new home and just wondering if I should include some sort of fibre wiring to the building/dwelling.

And it would be in a new suburb, reason why I was wondering which areas already include the fibre.

I'm already going to include Cat6 & RG6

There is no need to include fibre in a household - fibre only goes as far as the demarc point where you would install an ONT. Assuming you are using appropiate conduit from the street then getting fibre from the street to the demarc would be easily done in future.

Yep

If you are building a new home get a conduit from the building foundation to the boundary of your property... 32mm with a string line in it is perfect.

The day that local and central government authorities get over themselves and allow new trenching technoligies you will be well placed to "get connected".

Good idea of running RG6, yes you can run everything over UTP with baluns etc, but it is just easier and the signal is better over COAX, found that out the hard way... lucky I knew a good plaster

I heard a rumour that Multimedia Communications were contracted by TelstraClear to plan & install fibre to all homes in the new Pegasus township. They apparently are going to have a cove on all houses for *NO* external aerials or satellite dishes in the entire township. Hence fibre laid to all homes. Mind you, Pegasus township might not fly in the end.

Well I can;t comment on what TCL plans are but yes they have been laying a microducted netowrk in pegasus township which will definately assist with a FTTH roll out. The trick will be how they do it i,e are they going to do a PON or direct ethernet style network.

One could summise that with their history in the CATV area a PON design will be deployed....

As far as wether or not Pegasus has a futre... I for one would be very surprised if it didn;t go ahead, might slow down for a little while but you don;t sink the sort of money that infinity has for it not to proceed. I drove out there the other day ... its looking really good!!!
