Though heres our best speedtest, it would seem telstraclear/telecom have profiled us to ADSL1 which is sad. I email telstra to ask if it could be changed. I've confirmed this by downloading a file off microsoft with 12 threads at 1MB/s.

Area is pukete, exchange is Te Rapa. Distance to exchange before was quoted at 3.5km.
This confirms it:

Yes a quite significant change in attenuation levels. Is there any document from Chorus with planned dates for other areas?

I also come off the Te Rapa exchange with similar "before" modem stats

I have a dsl 502t modem, what changes would i need to make to check whether i have been cabinetised also.

Or would i have seen similar results automatically?

Cheers

Edit: just seen the migration schedule, i'm in nawton and cant see it on there or is there another applicable cabinet?

I'm in Nawton also, I believe the cabnet on the corner of sunnyside road / avalon drive is getting upgraded in Jan 2009 (or April 2009) so not too long to wait. I did hear from someone in Telecom once that the cabnet there is one of the oldest in Hamilton.

Enjoy your new speeds (or soon to be new speeds as your profile is changed.) I have to wait till 2011 until my Cabinet in Parnell, central Auckland is upgraded :-( But at least it will be in time for the world cup :-)

I envy u.

There are 12 cabinets to be upgraded in Tawa, mid 2010, how many did you want? check line 651>662 of spreadsheet.

Just drove past the cabinet on the corner of sunnyside and avalon drive in nawton, hamilton.

the spreadsheet says  nawton north/south for january 2009..

how many properties does a cabinet service? it didnt look very big to me.. so are there several cabinets per suburb?

one time when i had a fault, the transfield techie seemed to refer to a different cabinet (crawshaw avenue i think?)

exDee, mind if we run some cat5e cable or set up some wireless access points from your house? Laughing

Edit: just saw Cyril7's comment about 12 cabinets to be upgraded in Tawa so obviously more than 1 per suburb.

Around 300 lines out of a single cabinet.

I was told with that cabnet on the corner of sunnyside/avalon, the backhaul cabnet feeding it from Te Rapa exchange is fairly thin stuff (I can't remember the measurement) but its not the most ideal stuff on the planet to run adsl over.
I'm running off a cabnet at the end of the reach of the frankton exchange and pulling 6mb (adsl2+), I think its getting done in April but considering its across the road I'm keen to see to see what speed I can get

hey Cyril, I have a question to ask. I live in St. James Park, Hamilton and I am on a cabinet somewhere either in Rototuna or Chedworth park. My exchange however is in Claudelands. Ihug and Telecom have confirmed my exchange and Vodafone' RED network map also points to the Claudelands exchange. I know Claudelands exchange has been migrated to ADSL2+. My friend who is also with Ihug living in a different suburb but connected to Claudelands exchange is getting ADSL2+ modulation displayed on my modem when I took it over to his house. But at my house the same modem states G.DMT (ADSL1). Now I am believing this is due to the fact that my cabinet (Chedworth or Rototuna) has not got  ADSL2+ enabled yet? Would this be true? If not then why would my modem state ADSL1 on my line but same modem does ADSL2+ on friends. If this theory is not true then I am guessing Ihug has stuck me on a ADSL1 profile (which I vaguely remember they might have done when I first got Broadband 3 years ago, they had to alter my profile for stability)

Hi, Claudlands was upgraded to ADSL2+ last december, if you are directly connected to that exchange then you will sync on ADSL2+. Claudlands has 44 cabinets hung off it, 28 of which are just basic junction cabinets that will be upgraded to ADSL2+ late next year. However there are 16 cabinets pretty much all of which are in Rototuna that currently have ADSL1 DSLAMs fitted, these are due for ADSL2+ upgrades early 2010.

I guess you are on one of these latter cabinets.

thanks Cyril for clarification. Is there any site where we can check how many cabinets are in each suburb or is it for Telecom employees only?

also about that 16 cabinets in Rototuna being migrated in early 2010 to ADLS2+, the Chorus link says that Rototuna will be done in October 2009 and so will be Chedworth....is it stating that work will start on October 2009 and finish in early 2010 for those 16 cabinets? Atleast it's good to hear that Ihug has not stuck me on a ADSL1 profile...
