So I was happy to see that my address now is showing September for Fibre to be available.

I presume it's unlikely I'll be able to tell if it's start or end. Do the dates indicated mean *I* will be able to have Fibre in September, or just that they will lay it on the street, and then there is a bunch of stuff to happen before I can order it from my RSP, then the installation gets booked and I need to wait for the process to finish, and therefore I might be looking at much later?

I am really asking if it's likely if I might have UFB at my house in time for the RWC starting 20th Sept.

@chorusnz may be willing to shed light?

For your street, pretty sure it's the end of September with extra delays for installation ;)

on a more serious note, often a provider can use the availability check API's to get a more defined date... Most providers have their built into their availability checks.

It's the date your RSP can order fibre from Chorus. Your RSP can tell you the exact date in September.

Depending on technician availability, you could be getting fibre a week after.

This is assuming no consents or permits is necessary. What type of house do you live in? Do you have a shared driveway? Is it near a busy road? Are the current copper lines delivered overhead?

My street said March 2019. Spray paint and work notices appeared in August 2018, they started digging in October, crews left in December, and fibre became available to order on 15 February.

So, I'd say, if your house is a straightforward install with no consent issues... you might just sneak in in time for the RWC.

I noticed today that my April 2019 date has dropped off the Chorus website entirely and its showing VDSL as the best option!  Thankfully the fibre is at the bottom of the drive I just cant order it yet. I'm hoping the date going means its imminent rather than "cancelled completely".

Currently shows:

Where as yesterday it showed April 2019.  Only panicking slightly.

Check my thread here.

tl;dr - go ahead and order it. Your ISP is probably already showing it as available - if they're not, just use the contact form to request it manually.

For me, it took about 8 or 9 days after this point before the availability checker started reporting fibre was available.

All I can say is that his driveway is very hard to reverse out of! I don’t think it’s shared.

It's not shared, no consent issues and I regularly drive down it backward at 30kmph :)

That seems like a H&S risk for the fibre, will require to have a full scope, plan, civil and installation below the drive :)

You forgot traffic management plan.

A box of nice imported beers to the installers if they meet the deadline :)

Don't worry, I'll be putting all sorts of incentives in the notes :)

@Coil is going to take care of some of the more obscure and questionable ones. :) He may be more amenible after a box of beers.

LOL. that's  how you win yourself more delays.

Leave the Tim at home, he can be your prize for gaining fibre.

We had an original estimate of August 2019 for fibre in our street, but this was recently changed to:

(March 2019 if the image isn't readable).

I'm currently sitting by the front door waiting for the man from Chorus to arrive with his tape measure and clip-board!
