For some months now Chorus has been installing fibre in Beachlands and I've been watching the Chorus Broadband Checker to have it installed as soon as it was available. It seemed like forever but on the 13th of May "Bingo" so I got on the phone directly to order from 2degrees.

Anyway, long story short, after several contacts with 2degrees it seems that there is no progress down to a "records" problem at Chorus. Didn't stop them putting a flyer through the letter box mind.

Hopefully someone at Chorus will sort it out quickly but six weeks seems like a long time to not even make contact on an order?

Allow 2 - 6 weeks for a records issue to be fixed, after 6 weeks get the ISP to start escalating it with Chorus or there Chorus SDM.

Had a look at the maps and depending on where you live then it's not live yet.

There are two regions yet to go live and typically after the physical build is complete it takes up to 2 months before you can request service.

What does the Chorus Broadband Checker say at your address? https://www.chorus.co.nz/tools-support/broadband-tools/broadband-checker

If that says should be available July 2019 then you are in two two UFB zones BEA/FFP07 or FFP08 that aren't due to come online until next month.

I feel your pain as I only got UFB last year, but it shouldn't be long to wait.

Thanks for that, I just checked again and it’s still “Great news - fibre is available at your address”. 2Degrees would only accept the order once Chorus had set that it was available.

Like all these things the waiting seems like the longest part.

Hello

Don't forget if you are on the share driveway, there is a 15 days of consent process. That is like 2 weeks of wait from the start of the date of issue of the scope of work letter.

One of my neighbour, his house is on the main street, I remembered talk to him at the middle of the month of May, then their house just got installed on 18th June 2019

@kiwibob1 its possible your property is on the boundary of two rollout areas and therefore it’s incorrectly been flagged as ready by accident. Seen that happen on occasion. Also possibility the issue is elsewhere as has been pointed out. Perhaps consents due to a ROW build and your broadband provider hasn’t updated you yet.

If you would like to flick us through a PM with your address I can give it a check and see what’s happening. ^Richard

Hey neighbour, I'm also in Beachlands!  I was also watching the Chorus website for the availability to become available and the moment I did, I called 2degrees to arrange a time.  Like you, I was also stuck "waiting for records" and I hadn't heard anything from 2degrees for a few weeks so I called them up last Monday.  Surprisingly, after being on hold while the person checked things, she came back and let me know they now had the records and they sent a tech out on the Tuesday to do a scope with the actual install scheduled to happen this Thursday.

Another local here. Am patiently waiting for 7 July myself. Good to know that date, as quoted to me by Spark last month, appears accurate given the above info.

Great to hear that there is some progress. I'll give 2Degrees another couple of days and then harrass them again.

Looks like we may get into the 21st Century soon!

Careful they might build one. Have you tasted Auckland's water?

I am a bit spoilt and come from Christchurch originally but I had a brief stint in New Lynn from 2017 until last year and it wasn't too bad.  Still, I'd rather have filters on city water with a guaranteed supply instead of hoping it rains during the summer period!
