Hello I'm using Skinny Networks Broadband Unlimited plan which is solely broadband without a landline. The connection is VDSL but I do not have a VDSL jackpoint in my house, I am using the ADSL filter that came with the modem to connect into the landline jackpoint.

My internet speeds are not great with around 14Mbps download and less than 1Mbps upload. So will the ADSL filter effect the speed and will I benefit from have a VDSL jackpoint?

Last question: Would the wiring in my house effect the speed of the internet and is there anyway that I can tell if the house wiring is slowing down the internet without replacing the wiring?

if its plug in then remove the filter you only need it if you have a phone connected to it.

yes the house wiring can affect your speed. and no way to tell unless you want to connect the modem to your demark point to rule out the house wiring, not something the layman could do.

I don't have a VDSL jackpoint so I can't plug it in directly, I have to use the filter because it has a phone jack plug.

you dont need a VDSL jack point, you can use a normal phone jack you just need the correct cable.

Okay, well they didn't supply me with one of those.
If I get a master splitter installed will that mean that the wiring to and from the splitter is replaced?

With a properly installed splitter, the wiring between the jack-point and ETA is either replaced or checked for a good dedicated pair. A new dedicated RJ45 jack-point is then installed. You can then plug in a typical RJ11 modem cable directly.
