Hi, I currently have a Dratek Vigor 130. I can't see how to upgrade the firmware via OSX (it's a few year's old and I don't think it has the firmware that supports vectoring) and so that got me thinking.

Is this still the best modem only option for VDSL (if it ever was)? could consider upgrading if not.

Also interested to know if my exchange supports vectoring - it's Albury in the Mackenzie Districts if that helps.

Thanks in anticipation of helpful posts!

130 has Vectoring if you load the correct firmware on.

Personally i use NF4V's for bridging... their exposed dsl module is great for reporting.

I've got a spare NF4V which I set up for bridging and then didn't use - decided the "wife can call ISP when things break" factor was more important.

Chris - you're welcome to pick it up if you want to try it. I'm down the road (Pleasant Point).

What firmware is your DV130 running? Check with the folk at snappernet as if its not been upgraded in a while you might have to do a two step upgrade, my main beef with the DV130 is I have had a few power supplies blow up!

I like the C897VA for professional use with VDSL and also the V5311 SFP (but others here have had bad experiences with them)

Draytek Vigor 130 bridged to a Mikrotik. You are already 1/2 way there.

DrayTek Vigor 165, it's an 130 with 35b profile (capable 250Mb/s via VDSL2) and two RJ45 and very popular here in GER for people with 250Mb/s VDSL plans (no Fibre).

As usual: Don't know if both (modem and 35b) is/will be available in NZ but currently the best.

The Vigor 130 supports vectoring and the latest f/w 3.8.4 can be found here: https://www.draytek.com/support/latest-firmwares/ (tick DSL tab)

Maybe a friend with a notebook can do you a favor to upload it for you?

I've got an old draytek 2670 or something similar to that which has 4 Ethernet ports. But it's a brilliant vdsl modem but I have upgraded to UFB so it's spare.

Just registration - it seems they want to support Draytek customers only but you are. :-)
