Hi, I am 3.3km measured cable length from a ADSL1 port, 45dB atten, 11.7dB S/N, 7.168Mb/s sync. You may be better off limiting your modem to ADSL1/G.DMT, often it returns better sync rates for lines over 40dB attenuation. Your S/N is very poor also, this could will be limiting your connection speed.

WOW thats awsome stats considering your attenuation how did manage that kind of sync you must have nice line and  a good modem im on similar stats 3km on mtroskill exchange but my snr is very low for some reason even on adsl1 hangs around 8-9db

Hi, I think the saving grace for me is I live in a retirement backwash (Waikanae, full of retired civil servants) so there is not a lot of DSL circuits carried in the same wrapper as me, so few disturbers, then again I could have underestimated grey powers cyber upskill program:)

The modem is simple DSE XH9949, Broadcom chipset is the key, and a properly fitted central filter.

Should say today is a good day, typically sync rate is around 6.2Mb/s, still pretty good.

Waikanae here as well, Cyril - you forgot  to mention the perils of the Woolworths carpark - those same grey heads and blue rinses are freak'n lethal if they get their meds messed up ... then again - that'd be OT.

Hi Rob, yes you take your life into your hands going to the supermarket. I presume you are on the Conklin in the box at the end of PekaPeka road (just off SH1), I dont know how this is fed but one assumes with one or two E1's so 2 or 4Mb/s is best you can pull through it.

Cheers

You are a super sleuth !

Yup - that's us just down the road from that box.

Any idea when we're due for an upgrade ?

I dont think its on any planned upgrade in the next 3-4yrear time frame. But better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick condidering how far from town you are, I understand a past chairman of the board who lived/used to live not far away enabled that cabinet to exist :)
