Depending on where you live this is hard to beat. Network can be a bit unreliable at times though.

If you live in Hamilton, you may want to give the guy at http://www.satlan.co.nz a call.
His wireless connections aren't metered, and are done on a priority basis. (You pay more, you get more bandwidth at peak times).

Costs are $450 (might be +GST, can't remember) setup for the dish, and normal priority charging is $60/month. (Including GST)

Its a bit steep for the install, but since my monthly orcon bill used to be $120, I started saving money after about, er, 8? months, and I've now had it 14 months.

As I understand it, the dishes aren't 2.4GHz wifi, but are licenced spectrum, so the signal strength is higher than normal point to point wifi, due to higher power transmit and less noise in the spectrum.  I'm not a radio engineer, so I could be quite wrong here.

Bandwidth is supposed to be 6mbit both ways, but mine ends up being about 3.5 down and 4 up. I'd make a fuss, but it goes, and I don't have to worry about traffic, so I don't care.

I think if your monthly traffic gets above 200gig on a regular basis, he may come and ask you to have a think about either regulating the downloads a bit, or looking at paying a bit more. Given that its $60/month, and he has to make a crust somewhere, I don't have any problems with that.
The business is a husband and wife team, so all the usual issues about not quite 24/7 support come into play here. That said, if you ring him on his cell phone, the guy who runs the routers answers the phone, and thats particularly cool.

The service does have occasional outages about once a month for a couple of hours, but nothing that pisses me off enough to get me to go back to DSL.

Disclaimer - I have no other business relationship with him other than being a paying customer.

But don't go to the USA. Comcast is now enforcing a 250 GB "unlimited" rule, and if you go over your limit twice in six month you may say bye to your account.

Other providers seem to be planning the same there...

Gosh! I use maybe 5 or 6 GB per month! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I HAD to use 250 GB per month! :-)

If you were like me,
I do gaming, play internet radios nearly all hours of the day (on my phone or computer - I hate NZ radio)
alway sending and receiving emails, download a lot of games.

As it is, i struggle to keep under 60gb, and it's WAY to easy to hit 100gb.

Oh, and I have a shared connection. the 100gb is just for me. combined would be probably around 125gb a month if I let it.

So theres a lot of self control going on over here :(

Anyways, thats just me!

If i really want to have fast and unlimited internet, Japan would be my choice, not USA. or maybe ukraine?
