My next door neighbor has requested a fiber install here in Morrinsville.  If you go to the Chorus site it says that fiber is available in our street.

Yesterday afternoon say the Chorus tech arrived and I  asked him what he was up to  and he told me.  I said to him as he stood looking at the drawstring coming out of the ground that they  put in the green conduit in before Xmas   but no one came back to put in the fiber though all the surrounding streets have been  done.  He walked up and down the street a few times, said Hmmm  and left with my neighbor scratching his head wondering what was going to happen next.

I asked him to let me know what happens as I would like fiber as well.

Sounds like this might have been the scoping phase. You dont get the fibre installed then its just to come up with a plan of where they're going to run it to the house.

So what exactly is the problem?

Edit: If you want fibre installed - request it from your current ISP. You wont get it when your neighbour does.

The Chorus map says that Fiber is available so he ordered it   but it's not in the ground in our street .  They never finished it off after laying the conduit. .

As part of the install quite often they will only install the conduit, then blow the fibre as required from the FAP

That's interesting take on this  as all the other streets around the area have fiber in place with the cable stalks sticking out at the front gates.

If  that is the case as you said I'll put my order in with  Spark next week..

The best way to finalise this is that if you can order Fibre with your ISP, do it.  You will then find out whether Fibre is actually available or not.

Those arent cables. They are microduct.

This sounds like a completely normal install to be honest. The issue is Chorus left rather than doing it.

Did a address  check on the Spark website for fiber  and get " Looks like there are no online broadband plans available at your address."  so I guess it's not finished yet.

Will wait and see what happens to my neighbor who "thinks"  he's on Spark. If he is not sure how he ordered it.

Chorus have an outage this morning, which includes their B2B being down so we can't resolve the status of your address.

Try again on Monday :)

Thanx you were right about the outage.

Today  I get right thru to the "Review and confirm"  but just get  a purple circle and loading  and that's it.  tried it on  IE, Opera and Chrome browsers . Turned off the  ad blockers.

Think I'll give it a miss  until the end of June

Yup, i had a call asking me why it wasnt working early in the morning... so it was very much top of mind!

I'll ask the team to look into the flow double check it's working correctly, that journey i don't directly look after anymore so It's kinda had to picture where it's going wrong - it's a fast moving space!

Are we talking about Pinehurst Crescent in Morrinsville by any chance? If so, I have some information specifically about that road which may explain the situation.

The views expressed by me are not necessarily those of my employer Chorus NZ Ltd

OK definitely unrelated then. Pinehurst is in a new subdivision nearby and has some reticulation issues but I have checked and Deanna Ave is not affected as it's not part of that subdivision.
