Hi all, we have booked a holiday house in the Kaiteriteri region of NZ (top of the Sth Island), for 7 days, the house has no internet included with the deal, and with 3 teenagers, I'm dreading it!

What are the options? Wireless Broadband looks to be an option, but assume this needs to be set up by the owner of the property, and that isn't an option as far as I'm away.

Depending where you are in the Kaiteri region, there may not be mobile coverage either.

We had this issue with our lot and we just ignored them until the moaning subsided. We thought it was good for them to unplug once in a while.

A bit of a tip: Little Kaiteri is often a bit quieter and it's warmer as there are fewer freshwater seeps there. On a nice summer's day the main beach at Kaiteri is absolutely packed.

No broadband / cell service will probably do them some good!

Will very much depend on what part of Kaiteriteri you are staying. I was there a couple of years a go and there are a lot of parts in that region that have little or no 4G coverage from either Spark or Vodafone.

Best option will be to wait until you are there, see what coverage you get, then just get them to purchase there own data packs for their own phones if they really need lots of internet data.
If they have laptops, they can tether to their phones.

Use it as a teachable lesson on the real cost of living :)

Other wise there is Fishing, MTB, Day walks, and just sitting on the beach and enjoying a peaceful life. (As long as there are no farkin jet skis around)

twice in the past month I've gone away to areas without internet and cell phone coverage with all or one of my internet addicted kids, as soon as they had fun to do outdoors they forgot about the internet.

My kids tell me that they go on the internet at home because they are bored.

YMMV, but I believe giving them an alternative to the internet is a better solution than finding a way hook up the internet. Life is offline.

You can utilise the "download now and watch later" feature of Netflix at least.

We have a family bach at Kaiteri also with no internet.
