My old man has been experiencing the issue stated above for some time now. Often when he sits at his 'always on' PC he will find it is disconnected from Slingshot. To connect he must take the phone off the hook - if you listen to the line you can hear the modem connecting in the background too...
I swapped out his Dynalink modem with a D-Link 504+ (generic Telecom stock) and replaced the filters but he still gets the same issue. Sometimes he can put the phone back on the hook and the line will remain connected, other times it disconnects as soon as he hangs up.
His PC is connected to the modem via ethernet so it's not a case of dial-on-demand.
If anyone has any insight then I'd be most appreciative.
