Hi,

One of the offspring have gone unconditional on their first house - very exciting for all concerned.

We looked (again) at the property today, as part of the pre-settlement inspection, and I had a closer look at the ONT - first time I've seen one of what I assume is the 3rd Gen ONTs.

The obvious question is, does any residential ISP actually use/offer/activate the WiFi on the ONT?  Only really asking because currently there is only a single power point where the ONT is located...   (Not a hard problem to fix!)

It's a hard product to get into for alot of providers.

many already do a 3x3 or 4x4 AC wifi modem, so it's a drop in modem preformance.

Depending on how finely their assurance product is built into the modem itself, they may not want to migrate.

I still see the RGW ONT product to be mainly useful for

  • Small shop, eftpos only sort of thing
  • Small configurations where another device isn't ideal
  • Fast activation of a service, while awaiting modem delivery
