is it possible to have internet (with Vodafone) and voice calls with another provider (spark) on fibre ?

I read some where there is 2 ports on the ont

I've had fibre since 2018 and only had internet and use a cell phone for calls

but now someone else moving in wants a land line

No it's not.  Spark won't give you a UFB only landline unless you're in an area with no mobile coverage.

FWA landline is cheaper than UFB anyway... And there are also a multitude of other options that are even cheaper again.

You would need to get the 'landline' number with a VOIP provider - like www.2talk.co.nz  or https://www.kiwivoip.co.nz/voice-res/

The phone will use the internet connection.

You would either need to buy a VOIP phone which would plug into your internet router (not the ONT), or an ATA (Analog telephone adapter) which would plug into the router and you would plug a 'dumb' phone into another port on the ATA.

In either case you would need to configure the VOIP phone or ATA. Some internet routers do have VOIP ports built into them already - so that would do the job of the ATA above.

Vodafone can probably provide a 'landline' number and may have a router that supports you plugging a phone into it - call them.

I can get a phone line with my Vodafone account for an extra $10 no problem

but I don't want to be responsible for toll calls cost etc

that's why I was wondering if the other person can get a phone line and pay for it themselves

Someone asking for this is probably a non-technical person, so encouraging them to set up a VoIP system may not be ideal if they look like an otherwise decent flatmate.

You could consider putting a toll bar on the line so (almost) no billable calls can be made?  http://help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/10570/~/toll-bar-for-calling

Another option is to put the internet account in their name and you reimburse them for (your share of) the broadband costs.

You can buy a landline number through the 2 sites i mentioned and install an app on your mobile phone to have that number usable on the mobile.

Your issue is not a technical limitation.

As I've already mentioned above Spark won't let you do what you want to do - you can't a UFB only landline when there is FWA available, so unless you're in one of the very few areas where this is the case, it's simply not an option. FWA is also cheaper than their UFB offering means it'd be rather pointless anyway.
