Basically what the title says. Am looking for the cheapest fibre deal for my parents. They are currently on 4g broadband with Skinny and where they are located it's rubbish. Fibre has been installed into their house and I want to get them set up. Doesn't have to be super fast, but unlimited data would be good. Any recommendations for providers to look at?

Just a word of warning - these guys can be somewhat bias based on what kickback they get and don't often give you the absolute best deal. I wouldn't actually suggest using them and instead only use them as a guide.

IMHO look into Skinny who have 3 months free. My parents are with Voyager (on VDSL) which isn't the cheapest but it is a solid service. As you know I recommend Spark, Skinny, Voyager and 2degrees (all of 2degrees because Vocus doesn't exist).

Don't go with the absolute cheapest unless if you're actually on a budget constraint. Low end (300/100Mbit) UFB is actually about the same cost wise between providers but for the olds I would always suggest good support from the provider too. For example, my Dad phoned Voyager who walked him through rebooting the Edgerouter + VDSL modem when I had their setup a little more complex; even though this was a reboot only the fact the guy walked Dad through it with patience makes the extra $10 or so per month worth it for me.

I believe 2degrees has the cheapest deals right now.

Voyager have a pretty good reputation too.

Skinny and 2degrees also rate quite highly.

Thanks @michaelmurphy. Currently looking at the 2degrees deal which seem ideal for my parents and the support they offer makes it a compelling offering.

I'm not sure what slingshot is like, but this 3 month free deal is still available: https://www.slingshot.co.nz/stuff-fibre

Do you happen to know if a flat rate/throttle-on-cap option still available?

Chorus now offer home fibre starter (if they are in a chorus LFC area), essentially it means that Participating RSPs get a discount rate from Chorus a 50/10 input, as long and the price to the end user is charged no more than $60 (GST inclusive)

I am not to sure which RSPs are taking advantage of this
