Hi all,

Just out of curiosity for the day we eventually get hyperfibre here in Christchurch, I wondered what routers you're all using for your connections, what speed is promised and what speeds you're actually getting?

Bonus question, is your connection PPPoE or DHCP?

I've got a Mikrotik RB5009 router with a 2.5Gbps WAN port in anticipation of getting Hyperfibre. Still waiting for Voyager to release their Hyperfibre product, but am hoping for a 2Gbps symmetrical connection.

Mikrotik would be the only ones i am aware of that do 2.5gbit ports cheaply while still being commercially oriented it could work for a prosumer.

I wouldn't go for any consumer grade options for Hyperfibre as many can't even do Gigabit routing yet alone multi-gigabit...

For sure, I'm kind of hoping someone's tried a UDM pro, Mine works great on a 1G connection with PPPoE. hopefully, that extends to multi gig speeds too.

Would the 2.5Gbps port even work? I think the ONT only supports 10Gbps.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

balance between performance and noise I'd go with an Mikrotik RB5009 for 2gbps/2gbps hyper fibre

1 10gbps port to your "Hyper Fibre PC" and 1 2.5gbps port to go to the ONT, everything else with can survive on 1gbps

To be honest though the only place I can see a market for Hyper-Fibre is large flats where multiple people need 1gbps connections (and even that is over kill)

if you want more devices getting speeds in excess of 1gbps the routers will be noisy and then your wife will divorce you!

Another, cheaper, more "DIY" option for 2.5Gb: NanoPi R6S

If I was going absolutely all out I'd get a CCR2004-16G-2S+ for the dual SFP+ ports. But that's a more money than sense situation. I recently downgraded from gigabit to 300/100 and genuinely cannot tell the difference...

Just wondering if anyone is running bridge mode on the hyperfiber Nokia 110 instead of the residential mode? I see they do enable this to business connections ...
