I provide ad hoc tech support to a number of family members, friends, and small organisations.

I note the rise in ISPs who are purely marketing and support operations, or who supplement their bread-and-butter (e.g. rural WISPs) with resold FWA.

I wonder - is there a way to become a micro reseller myself?  Even at zero margin would I be able to be remotely competitive with market pricing?

There are a few good Wholesalers out there such as Devoli / Feenix

Echoing Devoli. I know someone who is providing me at cost and only has maybe 10 "customers".

There are a heap of input costs you need to cover.

You need a Chorus UFB handover (and another handover if you want to offer ADSL 2+/VDSL)

Looking at round $150 for 1Gb handovers ($350 for 10Gb)

That just gives you a link from the UFB ONT in a house/business to the UFB handover.

It needs to connect to a router, which likely means some colo space in the exchange then you need internet transit and maybe peering.

As suggested buying off Devoli who have a fully automated portal and can take clear of all of this. They add on margin to the service they buy off Chorus, etc and you basiclly white box the service from them via the portal but you don't really control the traffic. Just the ordering and PPPoE user/password.

My experience with Feenix wasn't as great and I'm not sure if they have an automated portal. When we presented a similar use case to them that you have they were not overly interested.

How much are Quic referrals worth again? Then ask if they would tack on some level of quantity discount?

With all the acquisitions and mergers recently, perhaps the mass market UFB option should have just been at "layer 3" from the start, like the old Wholesale Bitstream / JetStream reseller programme with separate charging directly to end user of Chorus/LFC line fee and ISP services fee.

Yes, a Devoli-style intermediary is what I was after.  Do any of these Devoli/Feenix-style intermediaries do FWA?  Or just UFB/DSL?

I'm not looking to make $$$, just help out friends and community organisations who I end up doing tech support for anyway.
