Good Day

Long time listener, first time caller...

Anybody know of a half decent dynamic dns provider in NZ along the lines of dyndns etc?

What known factual restrictions would there be around setting this up?

Why not just use dyndns.org?

As I have discovered, there are some techincal issues around them hosting a .nz address.

It's an easy hump to get over, but it boils down to not having a localised service for what could be a localised market and the result is three transactions to complete an otherwise easy task (excluding a wait period of up to 10 days).

Used Editdns.net to host your domain DNS and cname host to your dyndns.org address

Problem solved but agreed, somebody here should offer this service

I too just take a .nz domain and use a cname record to re-route it to sitename.no-ip.org
The benefit I find is that most modems / routers these days will update the dyndns / no-ip.org address for you rather than you running some software on your computer. They usually only have the 2 providers programmed for it though. Plus its free.

I use www.zoneedit.com for all my domains.. Its free for upto 5 domains.. Nice easy interface, easy to setup.. I use ddclient on my linux server to do the updates, theres a few windows based ones as well - beats me where though :)

www.dnsexit.com .... Just have whoever you registered your domain name with point it to the dnsexit servers, enabled dynamic IP from the options at dnsexit... install an update client on your server and you are done :-)

Runs my web server/email server with no issues :-)
