I know that there is a charge for an ONT relocation but, is it possible to get an ONT relocated if moving from gigabit to hyperfibre without incurring the relocation fee?

I guess the answer is no but I thought I would ask all the same. Currently with Skinny but wanting to move to Quic in the next month or so.

Nope, still a relocation, so you'll still get charged.

I recently moved, and for some reason previous owners got the ONT put into a weird place....... looked into getting it moved to somewhere better - looking at approx $1k via official means, from my research. Fek that :D Running some outdoor CAT6 instead :)

Where are you based? If in hawkes bay just run down to ideal and pick up some opticat and pre-run the cable, i'll splice it after work.

Where did you get $1k from? Chorus state 331.97 + GST here https://www.chorus.co.nz/home-fibre/moving-fibre-equipment or did it include moving the exterior fibre box too?

Im about to move and the ONT in the new place isnt in the most ideal place either so will consider having it moved

The hyperfibre involves just installing another ONT easily using existing wiring.

Its running a new fiber cable from the ETP to the new ITP location which is where the job goes from easy to more labour intensive.

That was to move everything.

I had offers from certain people to do it for me, but problem then is if anything was to go wrong, it'd be even more $$$ :D

So just going with a CAT6 run outside to where my lab/office is :)

A bit of an old thread but I just moved my ONT. The original cable was actually installed well and glued into the GIB so didn't want to pull that out. So bought a 30m outdoor rated fibre extension cable and a female-female connector. Pulled that from where the fibre is to where I wanted my ONT, works a treat! Cost is <$50. If you need details just PM me.

SC/APC connectors on an OS2 cable

with a SC/APC coupler

The ends of the cable would be green.
