Hi guys,

We are moving into a property with an existing fibre connection and need a temporary router for about six weeks. We will move our existing broadband in our old place over here after six weeks.

The fibre in the new place is set to be disconnected in about 10 days but we don't have the router or know the ISP.

Anyone know how we can know the ISP and if this existing router will work?

Without knowing the ISP at the current location, it could be any of the following

PPPoE Tagged VLAN 10 / No Tagged

IPoE Tagged VLAN10 / No Tagged

You will need to reprogram the router to match whatever type it is

Why don't you get your provider to activate port 2 instead, rather than using an internet connection that is not yours to use?

What does activate port 2 mean? Does it mean we can get a new broadband connection and get our own router to work on it?

The ONT (if it's Chorus - I don't know about UFF or Enable) usually has two ports for connection on it. Just ask to get port 2 activated and you can connect your router up to that one and use it.

Thanks, will do that with Simply Broadband's open term.

How have you found Simply Broadband? Is it reliable and is support good? I gather it's part of the PriceMe/Compare group (https://www.companyhub.nz/companyDetails.cfm?nzbn=9429047629295)

Coming from someone who used to work at 2degrees, Simply Broadband has been absolutely great to deal with.

Although they may not always be available on the phone, once you submit a ticket - I got a call back within an hour or two.

Everything worked as described and comms have been wonderful. Their NZ support staff was knowledgable and super friendly.

I'll unfortunately will be moving my 2degrees connection/account across as I have some legacy add-ons and discounts for my 2degrees broadband connection but I would not hesitate with going with them again.
