I would like to make a list of broadband suppliers with support based in New Zealand and not outsourced. I know my current one Now NZ has in house support based here. Does anyone know of others?

Haven’t called them in a while, but Inspire?  Back when I called them they didn’t even have a menu to navigate on their support line. Call it and someone (whoever was multitasking playing receptionist for the day) answered.

I find it nice to chat to my fellow countryman back in Johannesburg, but they're typically not overly helpful.

Nice to see there are some still supporting local talent. Will keep it mind as I am currently considering a change.

Vetta & Quic certainly do. 🙋

I believe Mercury also do in terms of the larger players.

You'll find the smaller or "challenger" providers will gain you more success for onshore support (e.g. Ourselves @danfaulknor being a prime example to name a couple).

I have found Now to be very good and am staying with them another year as they offered a good deal but will keep these other options in mind in future.

Unifone - https://unifone.net.nz/

I have been a customer of theirs for a number of years - In the rare occasion I've needed to reach out to them the phone is answered by one of their team in their Dunedin office

I hope this helps

Cheers,

DanF

I thought I read recently they were outsourcing again?

I don't know if they're outsourcing or not, but they are owned by Mercury now.

Gecko (I used to have an interest in it) and Now are both based in Napier.

Other ones I know of that have support desks in the regions
- Primo
- Gisborne Net
- Wheronet
- Amurinet
- Inspire
- Ultimate Broadband
- Full Flavor
- Velocitynet
- Uber Group
- The Pacific.Net

Can confirm for Mercury - You'll either get someone in Oamaru, Hamilton, Tauranga or Auckland (Or sometimes one of our remote team)

And for Now - You'll either get someone in Napier or Christchurch

2degrees has in house tech support for business customers, I guess you could ask the technical specialist/desk jockey to transfer you to business support.!

^ I'd be very surprised if anyone provided anything other than "in house" support for business customers.

yep, but the first tier “support technicians” do not like to pass you on to a real support person. Hence my suggestion.
