I have used Telecom MB all around Northland, including Whangarei and on top of the Brynderwyn Hills just to the south of Ruakaka. It works really well pretty much anywhere on the main roads, and on many secondary ones as well.
Because Ruakaka is so flat, with line-of-sight to many high sites such as the Brynderwyns, you definitely won't have any problems there
