Question for all you smart GZers..

Whats the deal with having NakedDSL installed in a house that doesnt currently have a phoneline working in it.  What I mean is - it doesnt have a phone line in use (ie. the current owners move out, discconect their account and you then move in).

Surely possible to get it without having to connect your phone line, get the service installed and then disconnect the phone line again???

Yep, as long as there is an actual cable comming into the house you can get nDSL setup (I did with xnet anyway).

Yep, did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. As far as I know the only issue is if you have your phoneline with another company other than telecom.

When we moved back into our house, the tennents had their phoneline with telstraclear. We just asked xnet to move our fusion (naked adsl) connection to that house. Wasn't a big issue to get it swapped back. Worldexchange contacted telecom faults. They rang me and asked what the problem was, I told them that they just needed to swap the line back to the telecom line and they came and did it quickly.

The line thats there would become an internet line, no phone service required because the line costs are covered by your internet fee. Your ISP will not know if the install is successful until you test it, but if there has been a working phone on it recently the installer should be able to pick the right line. If there was previously something like a burglar alarm connected to the line then you might want to ask them about a wiring upgrade.

Time to find a new industry!
