I am a customer on Telecom's Big Time Plan and currently have ADSL soon to be upgraded to ADSL2+, my question is if i mainly use my connection for downloading and gaming how will having interleaving turned off affect both of these uses?

My connection stats are as follows:

DSL Status:
Connected

DSL Modulation Mode:
G.dmt

DSL Path Mode:
Interleaved

Downstream Rate:
7616 kbps

Upstream Rate:
896 kbps

Downstream Margin:
13 db

Upstream Margin:
17 db

Downstream Line Attenuation:
27 db

Upstream Line Attenuation:
7.5 db

Downstream Transmit Power:
11 db

Upstream Transmit Power:
19 db

From what have heard looking around that having a good connection (which i think i do, correct me if im wrong) means that when i turn interleaving off it shouldn't have a big affect of the quality of the connection but it should reduce latency, so this shouldn't make any difference on the downloading but should help with the gaming side of things, can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks

If you gamer get it turned off as it makes a significant difference to ping/latency.

After it's off if you have problems with disconnections and line stability you can always get it turned back on. You should only need it on if you have poor wiring in your area/house.

You can ring the help desk or use the contact us form to get the change made

Once the profile for your line has been changed by their system the "DSL Path Mode: Interleaved" will change to "DSL Path Mode: Fast"

Yep it will make a big difference to your ping times, in my case 3.5 KM from exchange with interleaving turned off I get about half the throughput, but then my throughout is fairly nasty anyways ... until July ... then CABINET INSTALLED! woohoo!

Tuataras were once feared by Māori as the messengers of Whiro, god of death and disaster.  Today, tuataras are regarded as a taonga (treasure), and as the kaitiaki (guardian) of the trails to the realms of the mind and spirit that give humans life.
