Been asked to put this question out there....
We're looking at changing fibre providers and have narrowed it down to Orcon or CallPlus
- anyone on one of these providers ? (Or been on one of them in the past)
- Any gripes / issues ?
TIA

insane: My guess is that both of those providers will be using vector fibre or FX for layer 2 transit, unless they can make use of Citylink which is usually slightly cheaper.

xpd: Thanks Regs, but we're after fibre for the office for our connection to the outside world :)
We are planning on colocating a server as well with whoever gets our fibre request :)

They then came back and asked my opinion about Orcon vs others... I said Orcon - the manager said "Great, Orcon it is - if it all falls apart, it was your choice so its your fault" - great - dont break anything over there ;)
Zeon: My experience with Callplus is that I rang up to enquire about a 10mbps symetrical link. I left a message and got an email from the sales manager a few days later saying she'd get me prices the next day.
Never heard back from her - I guess they don't want your business..

Hey,
Orcon and Vector have a few scheduled outages coming end of this month already scheduled, hopefully you are not online until April sometime otherwise expect a break in connectivity for a wee bit.

Fibre quotes do take a long time, 3 or so months isnt suprising if they have to build part of the network (including building entry). Eventually everything can break, but how responsive is the ISP when you call them up?
