Following on from my recent blog post, I've now completed the transition for our ADSL Broadband table over to its new home under Plan Finder.

Done in about 3 weeks on and off, with jQuery (and jQuery UI) + dataTables plugin.

Code a bit long since I wanted it done (especially when you lose 3 months work and start from scratch again), but performance wise its good.

Check it out at http://www.nzconnections.net.nz/Plan_Finder_for_ADSL_Broadband

New features are:

  • pagination (no more long tables, click "Next" for the next group of entries)

  • search box (you can now type anything and it'll look for it pretty much anywhere in the entire table)

  • new plan information box (now with larger text for in-a-glance stuff, and cool speedometer-like images for speed)

Also with this comes a long awaited editing interface to the table. Wikitext isn't the easiest thing to edit for everyone, especially if you're a person just wanting to make a small edit and scrolling through thousands of lines...

Hopefully this means that it'll encourage more people to edit and make it a more enjoyable experience doing so.

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

I hope you enjoy my school holiday project Smile

cool, how do you keep it up to date?

ps. your column sorting algorithm seems to treat monetary fields as strings so $100 comes before $20 :-(

How do I keep it up to date? Using manpower! Tongue out Volunteers (will hopefully) keep it up to date by updating the table, using the editor.

And thanks for noting the price sorting issue - never noticed it myself. Time to fix it then...

The table I just updated is for ADSL Broadband - Naked DSL is in a different (and not yet updated) table.
