Has anyone noticed that the prices of broadband on most providers now includes a "$10 discount" when bundled with their phone service?

I know its been this way for some time with "Tolls" but now they seem to be pushing for you to shift everything over. Which makes it hard to move if you have an issue with any of their services.

It pushes you to have all your apples in one basket.

Im currently looking for a new ISP and have been put off by the push to move your phone line over.

Yes but you are incentivised to put all your apples in the one basket by the discount - that's the idea!

It is supposed to be win win for both parties, cheaper price for the basket of services for you and increased ARPU, stickiness, lower cost of acquisition etc for the provider

But id argue that they arn't putting the price down because of it, rather up if you dont have all your apples in one basket.

I was looking at going to snap a while ago for instance, they had the same prices with tolls. Now its with phone for no further discount.

It just seems to have become the normal rather than a cheaper bundle.

I have an older plan, and was looking at putting all my eggs in the one basket, but I would have to change to a new plan to get the discount. The new plans would cost more than my current one and would cost roughly the same when I include the $10 discount.
Some my eggs are still split.

I guess what annoys me the most is that some are not up front about it. They show their normal price and in their terms or extra information at the bottom its "This price includes a $10 discount....." etc.

The idea is that the price is cheaper for the basket of services whichever way you view it - discount or artificial price hike. It should provide an incentive either way.

Xnet and Maxnet don't charge $10 extra for standard adsl if you don't have your landline with them

I'm sure there are a few others too.
