I just find out that telecom is killing the big time plan.
I'm sure that they are going to recommend the pro plan in the letter-soon to be sent,
but to me 40gb per month is just a JOKE.
I searched other ISPs like orcon, vodafone, slingshot, and telstraclear but none of them seem to offer unlimited plan, let alone decent priced plans.
If you know any ISP that offers unlimited plan or high usage plan with decent price,
please please please let me know.

Also, I signed with telecom about a month ago solely for big time plan, and since there was no mention of terminating big time plan at that time, do you think I still have to pay for the penalty when I switch ISP?
I'm sure there are many people in my position, and if you did try to do that, please let me know their response.

Thanks alot!

Just found out ISP called WorldNet offers unlimited plan.
Pricing seems really good too.
I'm really keen to join them now.
Has anyone used it before or on it now?
Please share your experience with worldent.

As for the disconnection fee, I guess I have to talk to telecom.

Thanks

The world-net plan is just a rebranded big time, ie, they're just reselling xtras plan, so that will be going away when big time does..

Telecom will wiave any fees if you switch away from them if you were on big time, it's mentioned in other threads..

The only ISP that offers an unlimited plan is Actrix..
http://actrix.co.nz/page.php?id=194 which is $596/month.. Other than them, theres no other ISPs that do unlimited, so you're out of luck..

Xnet offers $1.02per GB that you use, you'll just have to man up and pay for what you use..

Thanks for valuable information.
Really appreciated.
Can you please give me a link to the tread where it says that telecom will waive any penalty?
Was it officially announced from telecom?
I've searched many threads related to big time, but had no luck :(
Thanks again!

It will be waived if you are on big time. Look for the topic on Big Time termination started by Doozy.

Are you sure about this? Telecom, as far as I know, do not wholesale their retail offerings.

That's what I saw in one of the many other "zomg big time is going away now what" threads..

Bigtime was never a wholesaled plan unless it has happened recently; Telecom did have a similar wholesale plan but it was withdrawn pretty quickly and anyone on it found that their ISP had no control over the IP address because Telecom used it for traffic management. WorldNet should be able to tell you about it, but I believe TelstraClear has an unlimited plan too. If you need Bittorrent then you better ask them how traffic is prioritised.

Time to find a new industry!

Am I missing something? I don't see an unlimited plan here. Unless you count the "handbrake on" thing, but I'm pretty sure that's 64kbps (can't find any details). Also it's only available in parts of Napier and Hastings.
