Was ABOUT to replace a WAG160N with an AG300 (long story) however I'm seeing some quite dramatic speed differences.
Both units configured identically, and connected to same physical location just minutes apart, but get this:
WAG160N - sync down 13000Kbps, up 956Kbps - speedtest.net to Welly gives >10kMb/s and .8Mb/s

AG300 - sync down ~12000Kbps, up 450Kbps - speedtest.net to Welly gives >4kMb/s and .3Mb/s

I know the AG300 is an older unit but STILL.....???

Hi, this has been discussed on these forums in only the past few days. The AG300's chipset does not play ball very well with Telecoms ISAMs. If you want best DSL performance use a modem with a Broadcom chipset, TP-Link8840 is a good and well priced option.

Thanks for that. Was feeling all ignored ;)  I was about to ask a more targeted question: ie what's a decent ADSL2+ modem/router? Wireless ones get plenty of discussion, but not a lot about wired only.

Right then, TD-8840 secured. Sync'ing at 15170/956.

Happy camper :)
