Yes, we have been an ISP for quite some time, over a year now...
Finally rolled out some DSL plans - sorry been a bit busy with the kids ya know.

All Geekzone and friends thereof, I offer you NO setup fees (-$99) :) my loss your gain, as it's no contract, feel free to try us out, loads of bandwidth capacity, herm, looking at cacti graphs, only using 5% of ADSL network capacity currently... and I thought this was a busy time of the night :( need to fill another 95%...

What the...

Many companies use P2P to distribute software. Even ASUS do this. Not much good if there is no P2P.

Hosting Direct blocking p2p isn't new for an ISP, many do already hence the reason why ASUS offer their files through other formats as well.

Remember when they gagged Geekzone with the threat of court action about threads which talked of their shoddy service.. Mauricio made a blog post about it even. You get what you pay for.....

I presume they are wholesaling through Orcon as they already colocate @ Orcon's data center?

Well to be clear Mauricio never mentioned names, people just assumed either correctly or incorrectly ;)

As for collocating at Orcon, I'm sure they would allow them to combine their traffic together, so would make sense to do it that way.
DSL services would go some way in balancing out their mostly outbound traffic, so really they are not exactly even getting charged extra for the bandwidth used for DSL at all.

Really, which ones? I am not aware of any of the big players who do, instead ISPs shape the traffic. Not having the option for P2P, when you never know when you will need it, is a big turn off.

Hi Jonathan Spence.
Can I see this gage order and threat of court action from Hosting Direct towards Geekzone?
Who told you that we gagged Geekzone? That's hilarious as this NEVER happened, whoever told you this is full of it, I doubt it came from Mauricio.
Where would one find this blog post?

Hi Jonathan Spence.

Unusual way to start a post. Are you implying something?

Regardless of whether or not this happened or not (I know nothing of it), isn't the point of a gag order to stop something negative being published? To publish that a company issued one would do the same thing as the order was intended to prevent, so the order is unlikely to be published.

Geekzone has never (so far) received a gag order from any company or individual.

We did have instances of users requesting discussions they initiated to be removed.

It does look to me that Jonathan[Zeon] set out to publish Hosting Direct in bad light with no facts or correct information.
To add to Jonathan's misassumptions in his post, we do have our own Datacentre: http://www.hd.net.nz/datacentres/albany-datacentre

Feel free to contact me with your direct questions of concerns in the future Jonathan.
