My upload speed have really gone down (It was even worse last night).

My suspicion is that it is linked to the switch from Big Time to Adventure plan. But been told that is not the case. They told me it must be my monitored alarm [Unplugged it and still the same], too many devices [disconnected them all - still the same], noice/ static in the line [How come I am getting a decent download speed then?]. They Tested my modem remotely and said it seems fine.

The option they gave me
- Get a new modem and try the speed. [Why should I when the modem came with my plan - but they wont lend me a new modem to try the speed difference]
- Get one of the technicians to come in and see if there is fault (there are no fault here - I just want my speed up a bit please] - besides it is chargeable if no fault!

Telecom suggested that I should be happy with that performance as it is better than what most people are getting.

BS I thought.

It is very unlikely that your switch from big time to adventure was the cause of the upstream issue.

Do you have any modem stats?  When was the last time you rebooted your modem?

Dave.

Telecom are testing and rolling out caching web proxies progressively, people have been reporting some problems on other forums.

I suspect you might have been assigned an ip address that is part of the group going via the proxy whereas before you weren't.

See if this proxy checker tells you anything

What are the attainable rates reported by your modem though? (rather than Speedtest)

Pardon my ignorance - how do I find that?

I'm the opposite.

I have been switched to adventure 10 days short of my billing cycle (2G/day limit lol) and its now evident how much restriction was actually on the BigTime plan (70-150K/s)

300K-1.2MB/s Dls from bascially everywhere/everything now (incl P2P apps) no matter the time.

Speedtest reports of 12Mbps rates similar to yours.

If you had better beforehand, be thankfull! but welcome back to normality :)

Navigate to 192.168.1.254 thru your internet browser and you will get the Thomson GUI up and be able to see the attainable speeds under the Broadband connection tab (from memory).
