I am currently with Xtra, 20GB adventure plan that costs me $61 (due to GST increase). Which provides with satisfying speeds, but the the data caps are too low... I am considering joining Slingshot's 20GB plan with a data block of 20GB, totalling $65.

However I am worried about reduced speeds and consistency that some people are talking about online and offline. Or should I just try my luck with doubling data caps like some people did in this forum?

From my experience, yes it is slower, especially for international websites during the evening. Perhaps things have improved?

c71931f: I thought they had a 40gb plan for about 50(slingshot)?

Well I don't know why they have that promo interaction thing on their website, forcing you to type your address. Maybe they have different plans for rural areas.

But what you are talking about is the data block, 50GB extra for $50.
The highest broadband plan is 25GB for $55 and without homeline $82.....  Which is already cheaper than Telecom.

This says 40gb for $55.

Omg. Sorry I must have missed read the information. BUT oh my god, if broadband is that must cheaper why isn't everyone joining slingshot?

Do they have bad service, slow connection or something?

Oh ic. How dramatic was the reduced speeds? Were they significantly slower
that you couldn't steam youtube videos fluidly? or anything similar
like that?

Slingshot's customer support is terrible, and the service itself isn't particularly good compared to the likes of Maxnet and Telecom.

That's because they do, they provide unbundled services in some areas, which means that the homeline in those areas cost $41 and not $49.

Slingshot is slow if you want to use P2P services like Rapid Share, megaupload, torrents and the link.
The helpdesk has a slow response time unless you call from a cell phone.

There new 40GB Elite plan looks nice, $55 + $49 ($41 if your in an unbundled area) and you can buy more datablocks and have freedata from 2am - 8am
