Does anyone know if it is possible to use the software phone from a non-woosh connection? eg. if I am in a Hotel in Hamilton (with no Woosh signal) can I use the hotel's broadband connection to connect to my Woosh phone and make calls as if I was in Wellington?

I can't tell you a simple yes/no answer but the answer will depend on whether they allow access to their SIP server from outside networks or only internally. The great thing about VoIP and softphones in particular is that you can effectively be anywhere with internet access and be able to use your phone.

Personally if I were Woosh I would offer external access. I would also even go a step further and themselves up as a SIP VoIP provider to compete with the likes if iTalk and offer DID numbers in the regions their phone service is available. 2006 is the year VoIP is going mainstream after many years of talk! :-)
