As the thread title says, who currently offers the best in this department, Slingshot are driving me nuts on my current so called TNBT2 'FS/FS' with 30 kb/s, pause play, pause play, pause play Youtube scenario every day.

Which ISP+Plan does the best job currently of streaming video?
End users without direct ties to ISP's via employment or family need only respond, thank you.

I'm on Telecom and I know they cache youtube which makes almost every video load/stream extremely fast. (unless you are the first person in the country to watch it!)

Not sure if the cache applies to their wholesale customers too or if it is just Telecom branded broadband.

Slingshot is really bad at youtube, there form of caching breaks youtubes natural browser caching. You used to be able to turn off isp caching so it would work normally but they disabled that for youtube, really sucks and causes to use more data than needed.
I think it's sad that Slingshot can profit by breaking youtubes functionality.

Maxnet is not bad. Most videos load without stopping at any time of the day. Not the cheapest though.

as mentioned above, i have been with Telecom and i know they use cache, so youtube video loads really fast (if not try refersh browser).
Telstraclear said previous they fixed their youtube cache problem so now they should be alright? (haven't got chance use them though).

i am using vodafone now, youtube seems loading ok, but again, you cannot watch much youtube everyday on a capped plan,it will eat up your monthly data quickly..

I would hazard a guess that most ISP's would cache Youtube etc. I'm more interested in non-cached video stream content, who really looks after their customers in that capacity?

Orcon isn't good here. Both 720p and SD during peak constantly buffer for me.

When on Telecom I noticed 720p started buffering after they implemented their cache, but perhaps that's been ironed out now.

A big minus here for Orcon. 1080p is impossible during peak time if it is not cached. In fact streaming anything smoothly above 720p is impossible during peak time. It is a bandwidth capacity issue as streaming the same video during unsociable hours is perfect with no buffering.

I vouch for Telecom as having experience on their normal and bigtime plans all work fine whatever the time you use it at.

Another -1 for xnet. Wether it's crap backhaul (more likely) or crap international, youtube buffers to hell and back during peak times.
