i'm looking at getting a new broadband provider. i need one of the ones that will be offering free isky.

out of the ones on offer, i'd like to go with either snap or woosh (their forums seem to have the least problems). can anyone recommend either? are their speeds good?

i'd stay with telecom if they offered free isky (i know, tivo), or perhaps offered free national?

Just because they have the least comments doesn't mean anything, as they may have less customers. The more cusomters and ISP has, the more compliants you will hear about them. I would recommend xnet at the moment, and they look to be an isky isp.

there is a reason why Snap has won the top ISP award 2 years in a row.

i vote snap, im a very happy snap customer and have been for about 4 years now. in that time i have moved about 5 times and had great support getting the new connection setup etc.

good speeds too, hulu/netflix streams without a hiccup.

thanks but i've been with xnet and had terrible speeds, which is why i've narrowed it down to these 2. had been considering orcon until i read their forum.

and yes i realize that more people would equal more complaints, but there are very seldom any negative threads about these 2...even with a lower subscriber base i would expect threads if there were problems. but this is also why i'm aksing :)

I have heard a lot of complaints about woosh in the past, who were quicksilver. I don't think they are part of the telecommunications disputes tribunal either. Snap seem to have only a handful of nagative reviews.  I think xnet have improved a lot recently, and most ISPs seem to go through good and bad patches. Orcon seem to be going through another bad one, as is slingshot from all the complaints on both.

i use to play COD4/5/6 on ADSL 1 on 2 PS3s and WOW on 2 PCs at the same time without any issues.  but haven't done much gaming recently, but i never had any issues with 2 people before.

+ 1 for snap, switched from Telecom's AYCE plan to snap, and I can have two 360's playing MW2 while being host to 18 player game. Overseas hosted games have also improved. Central Auckland location.

Not woosh, no idea how snap is, but woosh seem to have taken a leaf from the slingshot manual of customer disservice if you have to call them.

Not quite correct. Woosh purchased Quicksilver's customers back in 2006.

Having once been a Woosh custamer I could in no way recomend them. I dont know if Snap do ISky, however Ive been with Snap for approx 2+ years. I have had a round of issues, first getting my DSL relocated and second getting a phone connected, issues lasted for over 4 weeks until the correct people at Snap were notifyed, Some internal comunication errors were to blame. Once the correct people had the job, the problem was resolved quicker than one can say Telecom.
Over all I'd vote Snap. As Vexxxboy said "there is a reason why Snap has won the top ISP award 2 years in a row."
On another note Snap may be small but they are growing, they have had to employ an extra 6 or 7 people to cope with demand.
