A few restarts have it up to 1.4 megs on a 46dB downstream attenuation, but its still well down on where it should be.

Do you know what your loop length is from the roadside cabinet or exchange?

Secondly, can you please call 0800-000-000 from a corded (not cordless) telephone and listen to the automated voice. We need to know if you have any background clicking, whooshing or line noise. If you have water in your line, this will greatly affect the speed of your broadband.

I have naked DSL, so cant do that. Its 3.8km one way on google maps, 4.2 the other way. Dont know which way the cabling goes.

Im going to call slingshot tomorrow if its not improved, it seems to be back being stable again now. Once the flatmate is home will see if his is gone screwy as well

They were putting in the concrete for the cabinet a week or so back, but when I went past last there was noone there doing anything thismorning and it was this afternoon that I noticed that it had died.

There was a new cabinit sitting on the concrete slab when I went to the bakery thismorning so it might have been tempoary while they were moving stuff around. reconnected today and its getting 2600 down on a 46dB attenuation which is lots better.

Not sure it will take 5 months to fill the cabinet up and connect it so its looking good for decent internet before the scheduled time thankfully.

Ok. It can take 3 months from when the cabinet gets put in to when the lines get patched over. Reason being is that they can plan their fibre splicer staff to get the fibre there, and leave pleanty of time in case they run into problems, before the dslam installer comes along. They have to plan staff well in advance so if something goes wrong preparing the cabinet site, they dont have to delay staff further down the timetable.
