Hi All,

Has there been any reference of dates as to when the new Telecom plans will be effective? I cant find any anywhere.

The xtra website now only shows the new plans and gives you the option to order them but no date references at all.

I rang the 0800 number and among the automessages you hear one said that all existing broadband customers will be upgraded by the END OF APRIL, huh...

April is April I suppose...

Would be nice to have it sooner rather than later...

I got a letter from Xtra saying end of April for the speed upgrade along with a big list of reasons why I probably wont get the speed any way.

I am maxing out at 248kbps....even after speed increase. Are you using a download manager? if so what? it would be nice to download at 1.9mbps at least.

That'd be cool. I asked an Xtra PR troll and was told:

Existing customers will be moved on to the new plans progressively throughout April. Customers will be on their new plans by the end of the month.

My DSL is still on 2M/192k...

I used to have an old DSE router that reported speeds of upwards to 4Mbits but i was really only on 2Mbits

The thing that annoys me with the new plans is that i will lose upload speed, 192 down to 128 :-(

Yeah, my line speed is 6-something mbit/s down, 320 kbit/s up. Never could figure out why Telecom only limits the line speed in the downstream direction.

The thing that annoys me with the new plans is that i will lose upload speed, 192 down to 128 :-(

That annoys me too... but I guess it's an "incentive" to move to the dearer 512kbps plan.

Interesting I am an existing customer but made a plan change order today. Will see how long it takes for this to change hopefully before 16th of April

Ok this is interesting, I just checked and discovered that my plan has already been upgraded!

The speed hasnt changed yet but the cap has been reset. Nice! Should probably see the speed changing in the next few days.

My usage went from 3Gb to 5GB nearly week ago but I never called to get the new plans, it changed automatically - speed still 256k. My guess is the speed will increase on my rollover date (18th), but earlier would be fine.

Thats probably because you where on the Explorer plan in the first place.
I was on Discover and with the Auto changes I would have gone down to Go but I wanted to go up to Explorer so thats why I made the change.

Yes rebooting the modem should reflect the change if it has been effective. If you are not sure of the speed go to www.jetstreamagems.co.nz/speed and do a speed test.
