I'm wanting to know what is using up the bandwidth.  Is there any way I can see what is using the most?

My nephew plays runescape A LOT - and my sister is constantly complaining that the internet is slow.

They are only on a small plan (3GB) but within 10 days of their billing cycle rolling around they have used .75 GB over their limit and are reduced to dial up speeds.

I'm looking around for better plans - but I'm worried that my nephew playing runescape is just going to suck it all up again.

Help please.....

There are quite a few PC based bandwidth tracking apps out there.  My favorite is www.netlimiter.com.  However, these types of applications require you to run a copy on each PC being used.  The only way to monitor traffic centrally is by having some kind of monitoring running on your router / firewall.  Solutions such as DD-WRT and Astaro provide this kind of functionality with varying success (I've had DD-WRT monitoring traffic pretty reliably, Astaro is very polished, but currently has some issues with accuracy).

If you are using a Mac then open Activity Monitor (a standard Application) found in the Utilities folder.  The Network tab will show you the level of activity.
