Hi all, hoping this is the right forum.

I'm looking to update my tired home router.  From memory my Orcon connection is ADSL 2+ and all my home devices are either wireless or have gigabit ethernet.  So ideally I'd like an ADSL 2+ wireless router with gigabit ethernet ports.

Surprisingly most routers appear to come with only fast ethernet ports. The top of the line devices appear to have both ADSL 2+ and gigabit ethernet, such as the Linksys WAG320N, but these are quite pricey.  The Linksys WAG320N itself came out at the end of 2009 so I wonder whether its due to be replaced soon?

Any suggestions on a cost effective router would be appreciated.  If there isn't a cost effective solution, then value for money comments from anyone that has one the expensive routers would be appreciated!

Best regards,
Aaron Davidson.

Are you dead set on an all in one solution?

If not you can get 5 port gigabit switches for around $55 and 8 port for $70ish to use with whatever modem/router you like.

From my own personal perspective, I have a TP-LINK TD-W8960N and a TP-LINK 5 port gigabit switch and couldnt be happier.

I couldnt find any wireless N/adsl 2 routers when I was looking a few months back.

Please tell me if I am wrong but does not the modem's data transfer rate effectively throttle whatever data transfer capability you may have between the modem/router and the computer?

As the others have suggested, I think you're better off to get a GigE switch and then have that connect to your router.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!
