Just wondering as my area (cabinet TRV/K in Hamilton) is now VDSL2 capable as per the Chorus website.

1mb/s upload is absolutely painful for my HD uploads to YouTube. I'm 50 meters from the cabinet so pretty keen!

Personally I'd wait for reliable and respectable ISP's to start offering it.

Would it be worth waiting for Fibre since Hamilton's fibre network starts to get built this year?

What's the timeframe for Go Live in Hamilton?

Just out of interest, will one be able to ditch the modem with VDSL2 and get a media converter like one of these:
http://global.level1.com/Business-Products/Media-Converters/VDSL2-Media-Converters/VDS-0200/490.html

??

That way I just need an ethernet router which has PPPoE (basically all of them). At the moment I run my ADSL2 modem in half bridge but I'm wanting to use IPv6 so a media converter would be heaps better.

Within the next 3 years I think, can't find any information on what areas they will do first but I assume it will be the CBD

Telecom advised via their Customer Care Team (email query) that VDSL2 is not likely within the next month of 2 as they are still testing.

Is there any way to register interest for VDSL2? There's no cabinet near me yet but it'd be nice to be able to inform Telecom/Chorus that there is demand for the service where I live. Also, how did they come up with the current rollout plan?

Additionally, is there a reliable source showing cabinet locations? If I put my address into Telecom Wholesale's site then it shows me as a little purple ADSL2 island (coming in July) in a sea of VDSL2 green (also coming later in the year). However the cabinet location coordinates on the Chorus site show a VDSL2 cabinet within 250 metres of my house (following the street). How do I know which is correct?

It'd be good if they had a service similar to the adsl2+ one, where you chuck in the number and get a result.
