i have a 3.5Mbps d/l,128Kbps upload connection. Would using msn messenger and haveing a video conservation with my friend in the UK work? Is 128Kbps enough the person on the other end of receive good quality video?I heard 128Kbps is not good if u want to have a video chat.What would be the ideal upload speed? I think telecom should give 512Kbps upload speed to their 10GB broadband plan instead of 128Kbps.

We have the 10GB (3.5/128) at home and I regularly use MSN Video chat to talk with my wife and daughter whenever I'm away overseas.

While I agree that it isn't perfect, it is "good enough" for a reasonable conversation - and is far superior to chatting online.
There is some delay, but it's fine once you get used to it.

I agree that the 128k limit is frustrating, but the threat of everyone using voip software is just too great for them.

Perhaps if they priced their call rates more competitively, the threat of VOIP wouldn't be as scary or big. Though to its credit, Telecom has done it to a degree with their 0160 service with call prices that are competitive with voip calling cards.
