O.K. so I've been looking into naked dsl providers for a while now, and have narrowed it down to 2 possible isp's (Snap and Vodafone). I'm in the red zone for Vodafone, so my question is... Will the speeds of the 2 providers be significantly different? And is the $5/month I will save by going with the Vodafone 30GB plan instead of Snap's 30GB plan be worth the risk of having to deal with Vodafone customer service (which I have heard is fairly appalling)

Personally I have found Snap to be very responsive as far as customer service goes, and I would happily pay an extra $5 a month to avoid having to deal with Vodafone.

Same here, excellent support, excellent prices, excellent speeds. Cant knock them.

I couldn't recommend Snap highly enough.

Hmmk, customer service is a factor but I think a difference in speeds is the most important aspect. Will I be getting better (or possibly worse) speeds from Vodafone's equipment in the Mt Eden exchange than if I went with Snap (which I assume uses the telecom equipment). Is there anyone with Vodafone on the Mt Eden exchange who would care to comment about their experience?

Honestly I think it depends on exactly how close to the cabinet or exchange you would be snap anyone correct me if I am wrong but I cant see there being a difference
Also with snap you can uncap 3 nights from 1-7am for $5 and that goes line speed :)

Been with many isps and snap is by far the best for quality and service in my experience.
I am a snap user on the 30 gig naked adsl plan.

I have naked DSL with VF and never had any issues with customer service. Just recently moved house and there were no hassles by VF or Chorus in moving my naked dsl connection.

I have a work phone too on vodafone so only pay $55/30GB to VF for naked dsl. below test is from the epsom/newmarket exchange. onehunga exchange was better @ 18mbps.

ps - If you don't have a private/work mobile on contract with VF to qualify for the further $30/month discount on naked dsl and seeing that you are in red-zone, you might as well get the phone line package with 30GB cap for $90/month for red network customers.

O.K. with all opinions noted me thinks i'll go with Snap, as the uncapped for 3 nights sounds great (and I've harassed the sales department people with enough questions that it would be a bit rude not to grace them with my patronage). Thanks all
