Woosh Wireless have dropped the price on their 10GB plans to get new customers and those out of contract. They're offering 10GB for $34.99 with no phone line, or $44.99 a month with a phone line or two phone lines.

This sounds like a pretty good deal if you are in a Woosh Wireless area and can get a good connection. While only offered for the first 12 months it's a good deal for that period of time.

Not sure how long this offer has been going. Anyone tempted?

Seems no one is tempted.

$44.99 for 10GB and one or 2 phone lines seems pretty competitive price wise. Perhaps Woosh have lost their credibility and people would rather spend more elsewhere for better service.

Ah well, I'll keep plodding along with Woosh Wireless - while it's still around. Always happy to support the underdog.

Friends don't let friends get Woosh.

If anyone I knew was tempted, based on my prior experience with this company, I would do everything in my power to dissuade them.

I will be happy when they are gone.

Woosh are great for if you cant get a home line for some reason, like our flat. Im really happy with our connection. It has only dropped out when we had the massive storm 2 weeks ago. Been solid and reasonably fast otherwise.

Gotta say, I was stoked when I signed up for the 5gb for $70/$60 odd or whatever it was. They rung me up the next day and told me that this plan was coming and would I like to go on it from the time I signed up. This was about 3 months ago!Stoked with that. Its pretty good value for what you get.

Just make sure you can get a connection to your nearest tower and play around with the external antenna to get the best delta.

As given on Scoop a few years ago:

"Theoretical maximum download speed of 7.6M and upstream maximum 768k."

After you've picked yourself up from falling over laughing you'll appreciate the word theoretical is based on the word theory. It's just a theory that these speeds are reachable. In our office I have only ever reached about 750k download with upload of less.

The speed depends on many factors, distance from tower etc, but don't expect anything fast.

We use it at work because it is cheap and put up with the speeds issues doing any large downloads at home then bring them in on a USB stick.

I don't need a fast connection or a lot of data . . . a steady reliable couple of mbit, 10GB tops/month for $35 is appealing. If the steady reliable bit applies.

How about latency?

Does anyone have a modem I could borrow for a dar or 2 to try? I'm in Wellington.
