I am wondering whether could I get some help and advice from some of you helpful folks here.
I an with Snap Internet on their Naked DSL plan, and I have a Linksys WAG310G modem/router. The area I am in has had the cabinet upgraded to ADSL2+ late last year, and whilst my sync speeds are good (in the range of 15-18 Mbps down and 950+ kbps up), whenever I do a speedtest.net test to the Christchurch server (which is hosted by Snap), I am only achieving about 5.5-7 Mbps of download throughput. This was done via the Ethernet port on the device and not via WiFi.
I mananged to borrow a Thomson TG585v7 from a mate, and run the speedtest to the same server and the download throughput is quite often achieved in excess of 13 Mbps. Therefore, I am wondering whether is the Linksys WAG310G incapable of sustaining ADSL2+ throughput (i.e. > 10-12 Mbps) when you have good sync rates, or if there something wrong with my configs. For the record I played about with the PPPoA MTU size setting for the circuit and found that the best would be to leave it at the default of 1492. Is there anything that I can do to improve my throughput on my WAG310G, or do I have to get another modem.router?
