Hi everyone I have a request for any recommendations with a little bit of outside the box thinking.
My partner’s parents live in the rural area about 15km outside Opunake in the Taranaki region.
Unfortunately they do not have broadband and once upon a time I did try their dialup and peaked with a staggering 9600K plus a very unreliable line.
We after a couple of years with no internet they basically would like to try to come into the 21st century to keep in touch with the family. I have been out there with a Telecom T-Stick and have had a bit of success (not perfect). The reason for this issue is mainly that they are in a bit of a dead spot plus they have a unique concrete construction in their main living area of their home.
Well I am not all doom and gloom. Upstairs in their home cellular coverage appears to be reasonably stable.
Basically they have reach out to me for help. I think the fixed line is still a long shot as they have had Chorus out before and it was not looking so flash. That leaves Mobil broadband.
Right for the 1 Million dollar question.
Basically they want to us it in their main living area which is not in a reliable area of the house. Is there a way to set up a system upstairs which is not connected directly to a computer but to a wireless router? I.e. A T-stick or similar to the router then the wireless router transmits to their PC and or Laptop.
Any ideas anyone for this suggestion or any other ideas to consider??? I have considered satellite but this is a little expense for their minimal use(They are retired so I can’t see them doing too much torrent’ing)
