Hello

I live in the Wairarapa which is a Rural area and am looking at getting Naked Broadband.

I would like any recommendations / suggestions from anyone living in a similar area of NZ that has or looked into Naked broadband

The only reason i want Naked Broadband is cause i never have a need for  landlines, if there is a overall package that includes a landlines and broadband then i don't mind that.

I have done a quick Google search and found a few options but im sure theres more out there?

Any advice much appreciated

Thanks

Daryl

Because you're rural there isn't much of a saving vs having a landline There are wireless options in Wairarapa depening on where you're located.

Hi, check for services in Carterton, using the link below, if you are in a green VDSL2 area then expect excellent service. But regardless the village itself is very well covered. I am pretty sure Naked connections are available off the exchange or cabinets in that area.

Yes, naked DSL is available of any (Telecom Wholesale) exchange / cabinet. It is only Vodafone that don't have a naked option for rural (Telecom Wholesale) exchanges.

How much data do you think you'll use per month?  10GB, 40GB, 80GB?

Well here's a few examples:

Naked ADSL

Snap Naked DSL A Rural 10GB: $89.95 (+$2/GB for over 10GB or can buy data packs)
http://www.snap.net.nz/home/naked-dsl/

Maxnet Pure DSL Rural 10GB: $95 (+$10/2GB for over 10GB)
http://www.maxnet.co.nz/connectivity/pure_broadband/Standard-Pure-DSL.php

Standard ADSL inc Landline Packages

Telecom Total Home Lite Rural w/ 10GB data: $103 (+$10 for 20GB instead of 10Gb)
http://www.telecom.co.nz/content/0,8748,206401-204546,00.html

Telstraclear Home Plan Rest of NZ 10GB: $95 (+$15 per 10GB pack)
http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/homeplan/packages/broadband.cfm

..

As you can see not much saving in not having a landline service (naked adsl) at the moment.

There are plenty of ISP's to choose from that I haven't mentioned above

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Are you on an urban or rural exchange?
If you are on a rural exchange, its an extra $20 per month and I think Masterton would be the only urban exchange in the Waiarapa.

Page 9 of this document lists the Urban exchanges http://www.chorus.co.nz/f875,46290/UCLL_STD_PRICE_LIST_1_.pdf

Your local WISP (Wiz Wireless) can probably provide a good service. Their website is http://wizbiz.co.nz/
